THE ENGLISH TEACHER, a.k.a. THE DEBIT, (pause) OR CREDIT LADY
so, this lady comes into the store today and buys some eyeglasses and something else. she goes to pay with her card and i ask her, "debit or credit?" she responds by repeating my question. i ask her again, "debit or credit?" she repeats again. by this time, i'm totally confused and so i tell her, "is it going to be debit or credit?" she responds rudely by telling me that i have asked incorrectly. i am totally stumped by this time. she won't slide her card until i repeat it correctly. i finally have to say it ("debit, or credit?") so she'll slide her card. afterward, she tells me about how she's an english teacher and how she gets annoyed when she goes to the store because no one asks correctly. well let me tell you something, lady... cashier's get annoyed when rude english teachers come into our stores and tell us how to speak. so then she goes on with an example and makes me repeat it. she wants to hear how i say it. she won't leave until i say it, twice. i ask the same way and she gets all pissed off again. i tell her that most of the time we're in a hurry trying to check people while there's a huge line and we're in a hurry to get each person done with so we can help the next person in line. she tries to tell me that it takes the same amount of time, but it does not when you have to pause... finally, before she leaves, she repeats it once more and says it exactly how i initially asked her, "debit or credit?" i want to tell her that she said it exactly how i said it, but don't want her to stay any longer. by the way, the store manager and bookkeeper are standing at the vault hearing everything she's saying...
okay, so if that weren't bad enough...
i was talking to alex, who said this same lady was giving him problems earlier asking for different prices...
but oh no, this is still not the end of this english teacher...
she comes back to exchange the pair of glasses she bought because when she got home she realized that they were crooked. she doesn't have her receipt and so i tell her that if she exchanges them for another pair that are the same ones, she can just make an exchange without having to fill out the return paper. now i think she went to the pharmacist and asked her about them because the pharmacist came by and asked me about the glasses and then saw them sitting on the counter and so she went back to the pharmacy. when the english teacher finally made it back to the front, she let me know that the new pair of glasses she now had in her hand were also crooked, but less so than the other ones and that she was going to take them to an eyeglass doctor to see if he could straighten them. if he couldn't, she wanted to bring them back, so she wanted a receipt to bring them back. i told her that since she didn't have a receipt, i couldn't just give her a receipt, but that she could bring them back and get store credit for them. she kept arguing with me telling me that she needed a receipt to return them and i kept having to explain that all she needed to bring in were the glasses. she would ask again what she would bring in and i again repeated she would have the glasses and would be able to get store credit. if she wasn't rude enough before, she became even ruder. she kept going on about how i was the only one who knew that she bought the glasses there and wouldn't listen to what i had to say. so i called one of the managers over who was standing nearby. he came over and was going to help her out with a return and she went off into him telling him that he didn't know what she was trying to do. meanwhile there were other people waiting in line... so he finally tells her that since she's exchanging them for the exact same thing, she doesn't have to fill out the returns sheet and she goes into wanting a receipt for when she returns them and he tells her just what i've been trying to tell her over and over, that she just needs to bring the glasses in and she can get store credit for them. so, she goes into telling him that he's not listening to her and he's not listening to what she's saying. he responds by telling her to have a good day. he's trying to get her outta the store and finally she leaves. after she leaves, he turns to me and tells me that she's looney, she's looney toons.
i go on break, late, and as i'm walking to the back, the manager pulls me aside and asks about the "english teacher." the bookkeeper is in the room and i tell them the returns story and what the other manager said. the bookkeeper tells me that they were standing right there hearing her go off on me the first time and they looked over at each other and felt really bad for me. she says that she wanted to tell her (the english teacher) something, but didn't want to lose her job. they tell me that i handled it well. the manager just wants me to know that that lady is crazy. i tell him that alex also had problems with her earlier.
but wait... it's not over...
she comes back AGAIN. this time to return the glasses. i do a return for her, get her name, since she had to provide it for the return, and get the manager to help me do a return since she doesn't have a receipt. she buys a few items and this time she leaves without opening her mouth too much. THANK GOD!

THE NEW DEVIL
the dmv is the new devil! so, i received a notification that my id card is going to be cancelled because supposedly the dmv's and ssa's records don't match up. well, i just changed my name through social security, so that must be correct. i checked my ssn and that was correct. so, what's the freaken problem? i compared my social security card to my id card and everything matches up perfectly. so i wonder again, what's the problem? well, in the notification the dmv sent me, they left out the hyphen in my middle name. according to my sister, who received the same notification and who actually talked to ssa, the reason the names don't match up is because somewhere along the line, the stupid dmv left out a hyphen in our middle names. so now the paper states i need to make an appointment to go in to have my name changed? i don't think so. i'm not going all the way in to the dmv because they made a mistake and left out the hyphen in my name. it doesn't make sense to me that if it had been my social security number that was incorrect, all i would have to do is write the right one in the space provided and send the paperwork back into them, but if the name is wrong, you have to actually go down to the office. now what kinda crap is that?? plus, the number that they give to call is busy all the time. watch, call this number ((916)657 7790) and i bet you it'll be busy... the dmv just has to be the new devil. myLove would argue that cingular is more of the devil, but that's another long story...

RASH
my face is broken out in a rash. i took some super cheap (less than $1) longs brand benodryl that the pharmacist suggested taking, slept for three hours, and i think my bruised eyeballs feel a bit better.
no work the next two days, yay!

SHOWER
today was the first time i haven't washed my hair first while in the shower, or at least since i can remember...
well, there was that time that i washed my hair and then after rinsing it, i washed it again because i forgot i had already washed it. now how lame is that??? my mind must've totally been elsewhere at the time...

MY WEST NILE WEEK
so, i'm totally convinced i have west nile virus. whether or not that's true is besides the point. i believe it, right? i have at least 8 mosquito bites, most of which are on my feet. for the last few days, i have felt light headed and i have recently noticed that when i look to the side (with my eyes) it hurts. a couple of times, both at work, i've felt that feeling that i have when i know i'm getting sick, and i could've sworn that i had a slight fever. however, this feeling went away after an hour or so both times. i started sneezing a few times and i've been having a hard time breathing at night and have had to cough. my throat has been sore at least two separate times today and i've had several headaches. are any of these symptoms of west nile???
my nurse (yael) came over today and we picked up some food at the grocery store (it was a bargain cause the total came to less than $15 including the few things we picked up for julie) so we could make dinner--chicken, lettuce for salad, and brocoli. i also got a pluot to try. we went to a couple of bead shops downtown, but didn't buy any, and then came back here to hang out until we cooked dinner, which yael mostly made. we added some rice a roni and had a nice meal and julie joined us without eating any chicken.
yael left almost an hour ago and leighann and her friend andy are over here putting together leighann's dresser. julie left with andrew earlier (by the way, it's andrew's birthday today). now i'm just waiting to hear from myLove. but hey, if you know anything about west nile, please do let me know...

PART OF AN EMAIL TO MONA...
let's see... there's been a whole bunch of things that've been happening over here lately:
on thursday, kevin and i went to the team sleep concert at empire, which was a pretty cool place to see a concert. it was nice and cool in there and it was fairly small, so there weren't thousands of people there. a band called scene index from sac played, then a really cool band called idiot pilot played. the two guys in idiot pilot were pretty awesome. i liked the way they danced. you would've had to of been there to see it. after them, the mary timony band played and i thought they sounded pretty cool. it was just guitar and drums and it sounded good. finally, team sleep came on and by that time my back and legs were sore from standing up. the crowd was awesome. in fact, there was only one rude drunk guy that i saw there. he pushed kevin into me and started pushing people to make his way to the front. there were these two girls who were standing near us taking pictures throughout the concert and when that guy shoved his way by them, one of the girls just shoved him right back. she and i have talked through myspace and we were talking about him. i guess he tried to grab her butt or something and she pushed him away and told him to get off her. he finally left and then everything was alright again. those same two girls had found chino (the lead singer of team sleep and the deftones) in a back room and had taken each other's pictures with him and then throughout the rest of the concert they kept looking at their photos and admiring the pictures. i guess kevin heard one of the girls tell her boyfriend, "look at me and chino, don't we make a cute couple?" hahaha! after the concert, kevin was really happy cause he got his picture taken with chino and then i got his autograph. he was a really nice guy when it came to getting his photo taken with fans and signing autographs. he was on his way to the bus and he could've ran and told everyone that he was busy, but he stopped for everyone that asked him and either got his picture taken with them or signed an autograph. kevin and i also got pictures taken with the guys from idiot pilot and bought their album and had them sign it. we also picked up a cd from the mary timony band and had that signed too.
kevin had to leave the next day since he had to work friday night, but angelica rode the bus over from davis and we went to a comedy show at laughs unlimited (http://www.laughsunlimited.com/) in old sac featuring comedians sean kent and BT. the show was super hilarious and we had a good time. angelica spent the night and then left the next day when i had to go in to work.
on sunday, yael picked me up and we drove over to santa rosa and i got to see her apartment and then wendy came by and we went out to lunch at some bagel place that had really good bagel sandwiches. then we went by wendy's apartment and i got to see it with all her stuff in it. then we went back to yael's to wait for james to get off work and for kevin to get there. once they did, we went out to eat at chevy's. hey, chevy's has the coolest tortilla maker thingy. there's a guy that stands there and puts a ball of dough through a slot and this thing smashes it flat and then it goes down the contraption and finally comes out the bottom and he puts flour on it. wendy and i went over to check it out and were pretty amazed (i thought i would like to do that for a job). the guy then gave us each a package of fresh tortillas. each pack had 3 tortillas in it, so we took them back to the table and shared them. wow, they were good! later, wendy went back to get another pack for james and then when we were leaving we wanted to leave him a tip, so i took $2 and stuck it in his pocket and he was about to tell us to wait to give us some more. i guess he liked us... kevin and i drove back sunday night since i had to work monday morning.
i worked monday and tuesday and i had today off, but kevin had to leave cause he had work tonight.
