IT'S BEEN A LONGS DAY.

i worked a full shift today. it kinda dragged. we got a new person today. his name is chris. he transferred from a store in bakersfield. his store was a 24hour store. i wasn't scheduled to work the register today. i still did a bit at the end though. because i didn't work the register there weren't many rude people today. we got new bags. they say something else on them. i don't remember now what they say. for lunch i bought a lean cuisine frozen meal. it was good. it was only $2.55. i had a headache the second half of the day. i felt really tired. i was hot earlier but then i was cold.

i work tomorrow, but not too early, not too late. the time changes, so i am glad i don't work too early. i have halloween off. i don't get to dress up. i don't have anything to dress up anyways. if i were working, i would want to dress up. because scot said we could dress up.

im tired. i might watch close to home though. its a pretty good show.

ANOTHER ONE...

there was this guy who came in, and from what i heard, he wanted to return something. our manager helped him out at the photo register and i heard him telling him that without a receipt, all he could get was store credit. the guy became all angry and started yelling at him, cussing him out. the manager walked him out of the store, the whole time the other guy yelling and cussing at him calling him bitch and whatnot. when he made it out the door, he told him, "you come outside!" to which our good ol' manager replied, "yeah, well you come back in here!" the guy took off and that was that.

i've also posted about the t-shirt guy, so check out the story on my myspace blog page. i will be posting it to my website page sometime soon. but for now, go to mymyspacepage to read all about it. or, you can ask stephanie all about it.

IT WAS...

...BETTY WHITE!?!

that's right folks, if you missed the end of ellen today, she unveiled the potato chip thief, and it was ...BETTY WHITE!

my manager asked me if i wanted to stay and work a full shift today and i told him, sure, even though i would be missing my show. so, even though i missed the first half, i got to see the last half, including the potato chip thief unveiling, thanks to the television in the break room. it was a bit fuzzy, but it wasn't too bad. i could clearly see that the thief was... BETTY WHITE!

oh, and did i mention the potato thief was...BETTY WHITE?!?

so, scot made me vote for employee of the quarter. i voted for... *insert name of person i voted for here*

oh, and i was impressed by my manager today. HE KICKED BUTT!!! this guy came in this morning that always steals from us and we didn't see him come in, only going out. in fact, it's like the 3rd time or so that he's been kicked out of the store. scot called out to him to come back in the store and asked him what he had stolen. he got back a can of something and then tried to get what was in the guy's backpack, cause he saw some wine in there and something else. the guy got all aggressive and took off. scot followed after him and grabbed his backpack, ripping it. the guy took a swing at him and from what i saw, tried to hit him with his bike. i, of course, got all worried about scot, hoping he was alright. you never know with these people. they're scary! anyways, what a way to start out the day, eh?

WHY AM I SO TIRED?

i am still hoping that i don't catch whatever it is that landed 7 of our employees at home unable to work yesterday or sent them home. i hear the throw up flu is going around. i felt bad for the poor pharmacist guy cause he was back there all alone. our managers had to go back there and help him ring people up. plus, i witnessed some guy going off on him and him telling the guy to leave the store. i was really tired last night and i was tired tonight as well. luckily alex walked home with me last night and tonight, jay gave us a ride home.

i missed earl tonight cause i had to work, but i'm watching svu now. the guy who played agent skinner on x-files guest stars.

i actually have 2 days off in a row this coming week. i wish myLove would come see me. oh yeah, he has school... :'(

A LONG MORNING

this morning was a long day at work. we're already short employees who work the morning shift, and our 7:30 person went home sick, which meant that we only had three people there until 10: me, the assistant manager, and the bookkeeper, and i always forget our bookkeeper is there (no offense), cause usually she's locked in the bookkeeping room.

i resisted the urge to go to chipotle and jamba juice today and instead bought a few groceries and ate at home.

MY 15 MINUTES OF ELLEN

that's about all i get when i work till 3:30, but then again, i'm also getting paid for working, so i's can't complain too much. today ellen gave everyone in the audience a year's subscription to tv guide and a flat screen television. she's also raised close to $8 million for her hurricane relief fund. someday i'm going to go on the ellen degeneres show.

DON'T GO THERE

you thought i was going to say it, didn't you? "don't go there girlfriend!" haha, jk.

no, what i meant was don't go to the subway on J and 21st in sac. it's quite disappointing. i just go there because it's the closest subway and sometimes i just have to have my subway. anyways, it's not kept very nice and the people who work there are lacking. they don't appear very clean (looked like they don't wash their hair) and their appearance just isn't very nice. no smiling or anything either. plus, they short you on the vegetables. i hardly got any lettuce on my sandwich, and the only thing i actually got plenty of was onions, which was quite nice. but anyways, i'd give them a 2, and after eating my sandwich, i upped it to a 3 because it was still subway. i'm just glad i got my food to go. if you have a choice, i'd try a different one before going to this one.

but hey, i got the best deal today. i got a 50 pk of ibuprofen from longs and it was only $1.

WHAT'S THAT SMELL?

i'll tell you what it is... it's those nasty disgusting people who shop at the downtown longs. the worse they smell, the longer they talk to you and the more questions they have for you.

on a lighter note, we have a new employee. she shadowed me today for a whole minute maybe before i was off the register.

SAFETY PARTY. OH YEAH, AND MY SHIRT SMELLS OH SO GOOD!

today we had our safety pizza party at work. and... it was the good pizza too, from pizza guys. i liked the garlic chicken with the different cheeses.

this shirt i'm wearing smells so good. my underwear smells good too! my mom got some of that new tide febreze detergent and boy does it smell good! i even picked up some today, since it was on sale at the store with a mail-in-rebate. go out and get some and you'll be walking around smelling your own shirt every few seconds too.

i mailed mom's package. we'll see how long it takes to get to her.

my day at work wouldn't have been complete without someone yelling at me.

NEW SHIRT, NEW SHOPPING CARTS

we got some new shopping carts finally sometime over the weekend when i was gone. they're the new ones, too. gotta keep an eye out for them...

i also got a new shirt today, since one of mine didn't have the name stitched on the sleeve. my new shirt is also a women's shirt, so maybe it'll fit me better.

the new schedule is out, so i'll have to post it along with this week's schedule. i don't think i've posted it yet...

myLove was in a small car accident. he's alright, but his bumper is bent.

i finally got to meet and work with our new assistant manager.

Sunday, September 25, 2005

SHORT DAY

today was a short day at work...meaning...

we were only open from 9-6 because it was sunday. and...
there were only 6 people scheduled to work and only 4 of us for the last half of the day.

but...

my manager gave me a ride home so i didn't have to walk. on the way, he showed me where a nice restaurant is called moxie that i'm supposed to have myLove take me to the next time he visits. he said that on the bottom of the menu it says that if there's something that's not on the menu, then let them know and they'll go out and buy the stuff to make it. i'll have to try it out sometime.

oh yeah, and wendy called, but i missed her call. :'( now we're playing phone tag. :)

FORTUNE COOKIE SAYS:

Something interesting will happen soon at work.

(this one made me laugh. something interesting always happens at work)

by the way, the creepy guy who came in last night and tonight asked for an application. he keeps asking me kinda creepy questions. he's so... creepy!

PORK & BEANS

so, the employees at work have nicknamed the homeless bum pork & beans. he's the same one who was kicked outta the store a few days ago for getting aggressive with one of the employees, the same one who started following around a couple of our employees. he's the one that always came in to buy crackers and sardines, who smelled really bad and took forever to count out his money to pay. well, anyways, he was hanging around our trash cans out front again today and so our store manager went out there to tell him to leave, and i guess he was telling him things like, "get off my street, punk!" meanwhile, back in the store, jed came by to visit. today must've been reunion day, because later, mario came by with his wife and i got to meet her, then, yvette and alex came by. so, there was this loud screeching of tires out front and then this older gentleman comes in exclaiming, "i almost got hit." poor guy. well, tonight must not have been his night, because on my way home, i stopped to pick up some chinese food, and as i was ordering, there was this yelling outside, and i look out to see pork & beans and the older gentleman in some kind of a yelling/pushing fight with pork & beans threatening he's going to kill the other guy. the other guy comes into the restaurant and pork & beans is outside. the guy taking my order goes out after he's finished, and by that time, a policeman shows up and after some guys talk to him, he takes off, like he's going to go after pork & beans. earlier, the guy taking my order asks me, "are you going to hit me with that?" referring to my flashlight, and i tell him that i carry it because i have to walk. after all this happens, he tells me, "now i know why you carry your flashlight with you." but hey, my food was good, and maybe pork & beans is off the street now.

ANOTHER STORE LOSS

today was another sad day at work. our assistant manager, mario, is being transferred to another store in elk grove/florin, and today was his last day. we had balloons and a cake (that was pretty darn good cake--i had two pieces). i was sad because i really liked working with mario, just like i really liked working with jed. on my way out, i shook his hand and gave him a hug and told him that he would be missed. he told me, "it was nice working with you." it was nice working with you mario.

stupid rude people who come into the store. it's all YOUR fault!!!

LAUGHS... AND THEN NOT SO MANY

last night, angelica and vince came by and we went to laughs unlimited and saw stand-up comedian stephen b. perform. it was a funny show, and the opening comedian kept picking on angelica's friend jaime. anyways, afterward, we walked around old sac trying to find someplace that was open to eat at, but couldn't find anything, so as we were driving back, we saw a dominos and stopped there to order some pizza. there were some scary people in that neighborhood, which is not too far from the neighborhood where i'm currently living. anyways, there was only one guy in there making the pizzas and answering the phones and it was taking quite a long time. even when the delivery drivers got there, there were still only three guys working in there and only one guy was actually making the pizzas. as we picked up our order, the guy desperately asked us, "do you know anyone who wants a job? we're hiring!" we felt bad for him. plus, there was this girl that was dealing right there on the corner and another guy who tried to get vince to buy a $200 gold necklace. what a scary horrible place this is!

SAD DAY... BUT WITH A FEW HAPPY THINGS THROWN IN...

i could not help but feel a bit sad today... read more to find out about it.

today was jed's last day. he was promoted as department manager at another store. jed was always extemely helpful whenever i had any questions, and there were a whole lot of them. he would always take the time to explain things. he will be missed.

luckily i was able to tell him goodbye (and even get a hug) because although i was scheduled to work from 6:30-11, my manager asked me if i would work a full shift, since our assistant manager called in sick. so i ended up staying until 3:30.

for lunch i went to chipotle, yum yum! after work i got a smoothie from jamba juice. i finished it just now. another yum yum.

a bird flew in the store again today. this was the third bird that's come into the store when i've been there, and the second bird to come into the store this week. except this one stayed for quite a while and flew around to the different walls and sang so we would know it was still there.

my fingers hurt. jed called me to the front to blow up some balloons for a customer. she had 22 balloons. i really only blew up and tied 21 of them, since jesse blew one up for me. i popped one, and it was really loud. i think my heart skipped a few beats. anyways, the silver ones are the hardest ones to tie. they're extra thick. it took quite a while, but like i told the customer, we don't specialize in balloons. i wonder how long my fingers are going to hurt.

i get to work another 5 days this coming week. my schedule will be posted soon.

THE ENGLISH TEACHER, a.k.a. THE DEBIT, (pause) OR CREDIT LADY

so, this lady comes into the store today and buys some eyeglasses and something else. she goes to pay with her card and i ask her, "debit or credit?" she responds by repeating my question. i ask her again, "debit or credit?" she repeats again. by this time, i'm totally confused and so i tell her, "is it going to be debit or credit?" she responds rudely by telling me that i have asked incorrectly. i am totally stumped by this time. she won't slide her card until i repeat it correctly. i finally have to say it ("debit, or credit?") so she'll slide her card. afterward, she tells me about how she's an english teacher and how she gets annoyed when she goes to the store because no one asks correctly. well let me tell you something, lady... cashier's get annoyed when rude english teachers come into our stores and tell us how to speak. so then she goes on with an example and makes me repeat it. she wants to hear how i say it. she won't leave until i say it, twice. i ask the same way and she gets all pissed off again. i tell her that most of the time we're in a hurry trying to check people while there's a huge line and we're in a hurry to get each person done with so we can help the next person in line. she tries to tell me that it takes the same amount of time, but it does not when you have to pause... finally, before she leaves, she repeats it once more and says it exactly how i initially asked her, "debit or credit?" i want to tell her that she said it exactly how i said it, but don't want her to stay any longer. by the way, the store manager and bookkeeper are standing at the vault hearing everything she's saying...

okay, so if that weren't bad enough...

i was talking to alex, who said this same lady was giving him problems earlier asking for different prices...

but oh no, this is still not the end of this english teacher...

she comes back to exchange the pair of glasses she bought because when she got home she realized that they were crooked. she doesn't have her receipt and so i tell her that if she exchanges them for another pair that are the same ones, she can just make an exchange without having to fill out the return paper. now i think she went to the pharmacist and asked her about them because the pharmacist came by and asked me about the glasses and then saw them sitting on the counter and so she went back to the pharmacy. when the english teacher finally made it back to the front, she let me know that the new pair of glasses she now had in her hand were also crooked, but less so than the other ones and that she was going to take them to an eyeglass doctor to see if he could straighten them. if he couldn't, she wanted to bring them back, so she wanted a receipt to bring them back. i told her that since she didn't have a receipt, i couldn't just give her a receipt, but that she could bring them back and get store credit for them. she kept arguing with me telling me that she needed a receipt to return them and i kept having to explain that all she needed to bring in were the glasses. she would ask again what she would bring in and i again repeated she would have the glasses and would be able to get store credit. if she wasn't rude enough before, she became even ruder. she kept going on about how i was the only one who knew that she bought the glasses there and wouldn't listen to what i had to say. so i called one of the managers over who was standing nearby. he came over and was going to help her out with a return and she went off into him telling him that he didn't know what she was trying to do. meanwhile there were other people waiting in line... so he finally tells her that since she's exchanging them for the exact same thing, she doesn't have to fill out the returns sheet and she goes into wanting a receipt for when she returns them and he tells her just what i've been trying to tell her over and over, that she just needs to bring the glasses in and she can get store credit for them. so, she goes into telling him that he's not listening to her and he's not listening to what she's saying. he responds by telling her to have a good day. he's trying to get her outta the store and finally she leaves. after she leaves, he turns to me and tells me that she's looney, she's looney toons.

i go on break, late, and as i'm walking to the back, the manager pulls me aside and asks about the "english teacher." the bookkeeper is in the room and i tell them the returns story and what the other manager said. the bookkeeper tells me that they were standing right there hearing her go off on me the first time and they looked over at each other and felt really bad for me. she says that she wanted to tell her (the english teacher) something, but didn't want to lose her job. they tell me that i handled it well. the manager just wants me to know that that lady is crazy. i tell him that alex also had problems with her earlier.

but wait... it's not over...

she comes back AGAIN. this time to return the glasses. i do a return for her, get her name, since she had to provide it for the return, and get the manager to help me do a return since she doesn't have a receipt. she buys a few items and this time she leaves without opening her mouth too much. BAD AND GOOD

BAD: so, my computer decided to die and luckily myLove was here and took it to the apple store to be fixed. meanwhile, he was kind enough to loan me his computer. myLove had to leave to go to work tonight and so now i am missing him...

GOOD: i got a call from HR for a job interview at sacramento city college for the position i applied for. so now i have to prepare for a 5 minute demo and a skills test sept 1 at 10:30am... i'm kinda nervous about the demo and the test... we'll have to see how it goes...

I JUST MIGHT...

that's right. i just might have west nile...

THE NEW DEVIL

the dmv is the new devil! so, i received a notification that my id card is going to be cancelled because supposedly the dmv's and ssa's records don't match up. well, i just changed my name through social security, so that must be correct. i checked my ssn and that was correct. so, what's the freaken problem? i compared my social security card to my id card and everything matches up perfectly. so i wonder again, what's the problem? well, in the notification the dmv sent me, they left out the hyphen in my middle name. according to my sister, who received the same notification and who actually talked to ssa, the reason the names don't match up is because somewhere along the line, the stupid dmv left out a hyphen in our middle names. so now the paper states i need to make an appointment to go in to have my name changed? i don't think so. i'm not going all the way in to the dmv because they made a mistake and left out the hyphen in my name. it doesn't make sense to me that if it had been my social security number that was incorrect, all i would have to do is write the right one in the space provided and send the paperwork back into them, but if the name is wrong, you have to actually go down to the office. now what kinda crap is that?? plus, the number that they give to call is busy all the time. watch, call this number ((916)657 7790) and i bet you it'll be busy... the dmv just has to be the new devil. myLove would argue that cingular is more of the devil, but that's another long story...

RASH

my face is broken out in a rash. i took some super cheap (less than $1) longs brand benodryl that the pharmacist suggested taking, slept for three hours, and i think my bruised eyeballs feel a bit better.

no work the next two days, yay!

SHOWER

today was the first time i haven't washed my hair first while in the shower, or at least since i can remember...

well, there was that time that i washed my hair and then after rinsing it, i washed it again because i forgot i had already washed it. now how lame is that??? my mind must've totally been elsewhere at the time...

MY WEST NILE WEEK

so, i'm totally convinced i have west nile virus. whether or not that's true is besides the point. i believe it, right? i have at least 8 mosquito bites, most of which are on my feet. for the last few days, i have felt light headed and i have recently noticed that when i look to the side (with my eyes) it hurts. a couple of times, both at work, i've felt that feeling that i have when i know i'm getting sick, and i could've sworn that i had a slight fever. however, this feeling went away after an hour or so both times. i started sneezing a few times and i've been having a hard time breathing at night and have had to cough. my throat has been sore at least two separate times today and i've had several headaches. are any of these symptoms of west nile???

my nurse (yael) came over today and we picked up some food at the grocery store (it was a bargain cause the total came to less than $15 including the few things we picked up for julie) so we could make dinner--chicken, lettuce for salad, and brocoli. i also got a pluot to try. we went to a couple of bead shops downtown, but didn't buy any, and then came back here to hang out until we cooked dinner, which yael mostly made. we added some rice a roni and had a nice meal and julie joined us without eating any chicken.

yael left almost an hour ago and leighann and her friend andy are over here putting together leighann's dresser. julie left with andrew earlier (by the way, it's andrew's birthday today). now i'm just waiting to hear from myLove. but hey, if you know anything about west nile, please do let me know...

HORRORSCOPE SAYS...

You are an eccentric person, amy. You also feel the need of approval by those around you and the need to be loved. It isn't always easy to think unlike other people or to feel completely different. In order to be accepted, you must help them to understand you. Try to express your ideas and opinions in a more realistic way. You can't live out of sync all the time!

PART OF AN EMAIL TO MONA...

let's see... there's been a whole bunch of things that've been happening over here lately:

on thursday, kevin and i went to the team sleep concert at empire, which was a pretty cool place to see a concert. it was nice and cool in there and it was fairly small, so there weren't thousands of people there. a band called scene index from sac played, then a really cool band called idiot pilot played. the two guys in idiot pilot were pretty awesome. i liked the way they danced. you would've had to of been there to see it. after them, the mary timony band played and i thought they sounded pretty cool. it was just guitar and drums and it sounded good. finally, team sleep came on and by that time my back and legs were sore from standing up. the crowd was awesome. in fact, there was only one rude drunk guy that i saw there. he pushed kevin into me and started pushing people to make his way to the front. there were these two girls who were standing near us taking pictures throughout the concert and when that guy shoved his way by them, one of the girls just shoved him right back. she and i have talked through myspace and we were talking about him. i guess he tried to grab her butt or something and she pushed him away and told him to get off her. he finally left and then everything was alright again. those same two girls had found chino (the lead singer of team sleep and the deftones) in a back room and had taken each other's pictures with him and then throughout the rest of the concert they kept looking at their photos and admiring the pictures. i guess kevin heard one of the girls tell her boyfriend, "look at me and chino, don't we make a cute couple?" hahaha! after the concert, kevin was really happy cause he got his picture taken with chino and then i got his autograph. he was a really nice guy when it came to getting his photo taken with fans and signing autographs. he was on his way to the bus and he could've ran and told everyone that he was busy, but he stopped for everyone that asked him and either got his picture taken with them or signed an autograph. kevin and i also got pictures taken with the guys from idiot pilot and bought their album and had them sign it. we also picked up a cd from the mary timony band and had that signed too.

kevin had to leave the next day since he had to work friday night, but angelica rode the bus over from davis and we went to a comedy show at laughs unlimited (http://www.laughsunlimited.com/) in old sac featuring comedians sean kent and BT. the show was super hilarious and we had a good time. angelica spent the night and then left the next day when i had to go in to work.

on sunday, yael picked me up and we drove over to santa rosa and i got to see her apartment and then wendy came by and we went out to lunch at some bagel place that had really good bagel sandwiches. then we went by wendy's apartment and i got to see it with all her stuff in it. then we went back to yael's to wait for james to get off work and for kevin to get there. once they did, we went out to eat at chevy's. hey, chevy's has the coolest tortilla maker thingy. there's a guy that stands there and puts a ball of dough through a slot and this thing smashes it flat and then it goes down the contraption and finally comes out the bottom and he puts flour on it. wendy and i went over to check it out and were pretty amazed (i thought i would like to do that for a job). the guy then gave us each a package of fresh tortillas. each pack had 3 tortillas in it, so we took them back to the table and shared them. wow, they were good! later, wendy went back to get another pack for james and then when we were leaving we wanted to leave him a tip, so i took $2 and stuck it in his pocket and he was about to tell us to wait to give us some more. i guess he liked us... kevin and i drove back sunday night since i had to work monday morning.

i worked monday and tuesday and i had today off, but kevin had to leave cause he had work tonight.

THE COKE LADY

so, this lady calls work today and asks how long coke is on sale (meaning the 3-day only sale till sunday of 12 for $10). so after i find out she means this sale and not the 4 for $5 sale that goes till the end of the week, she blasts into me about how she only has 88cents and that the other day she left $1 in dimes with another employee, so if she doesn't have enough money then she expects us to still give it to her. so, later she comes into the store and has her 2 liter bottle of coke, which rings up to a total of 99cents with the crv. she blasts into me again about how she left her money with the other employee and that she expects to still get her coke. luckily another employee was standing there and helped me out and after telling her that that was not okay what that other employee did, she finally took her coke and left.

MY FRIEND ANGELICA (A.K.A. ANGEL CHILD)

i spent the night with angelica, who got lost trying to take a shortcut back to davis and instead came all the way to sac instead. we got stuck behind some train crossing bars for like 20 minutes and they didn't go up until angelica threatened to call 911. she made me dinner, then breakfast including a yummy smoothie, and we watched the craft, went to church, which was all in spanish, meaning i never laughed at any of the jokes made, and then went out to eat thai food. we stopped by longs to pick up a few things before heading back and i got to use my employee discount card for the first time!

it's HOT and i have work tomorrow from 12-4:30.

JUST ADD THIS TO MY LIST OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS...

i started my first day of training at longs today from 1-5pm. i spent most of the time doing training on the computer and then spent about the last half hour watching and being helped on the register, which was a bit overwhelming, but i hope i can get the hang of it all very soon. i was so into it that i stayed an extra half hour... tomorrow i go in from 10-2. wish me luck. i just might need it!

THE SNOT(T) IS BACK

so, i know i've gone MIA lately and that's because i've been in sac, brentwood, and davis the past few weeks and just got connected to the internet this afternoon thanks to cable man jeff. i spent this past weekend in davis visiting angelica, who sure was patient considering that i did not make one decision the whole time i was there. myLove came up on the 4th and the three of us went to see war of the worlds. lots of action. some parts were even a bit scary. the end was pretty predictable though, and that's not considering that i read the book. in the book there were no children, peoples! before that i spent some time in brentwood and got to go to uncle rusty and aunt pat's reception and then jenny's birthday party/bbq. then they brought me back up here and got to see the place. yael came by today for a nice visit. i got to talk to my dancing partner alex today over the phone. i'm a bit disappointed that i won't be able to see him in person, seeing as i didn't get to see him last time he was in calif. but maybe we can go visit him in oregon or something. tomorrow morning i have an interview with longs drugs. i know, i'm copying myLove, but hey, they're the first place to call me back, and so i'm hoping that they'll hire me and give me a job. i don't even mind that it would be part-time. wish me luck!

JULIE'S GRADUATION

so, i never said anything about my sister's graduation. it was nice, but it was long. they have a total of 7 graduations, they had 3 on friday and 4 on saturday. that's a whole lot of graduations. anyways, we met two of her professors afterward who stood there shaking my hand for an extremely long time. it started to become uncomfortable after a while... then, we went to eat at mimi's cafe, which took forever... we didn't get out of there until almost midnight. then we had to drive back to modesto. dang my dad did a lot of driving this past week, and this weekend he has a bunch of driving to do as well for my graduation.

yesterday i met with my friend shannon in the library to work on our posters. i feel like i didn't get much accomplished. i was glad when i finally found out what day my final is--thursday--since now i have a couple more days to work on it.

tonight is my sister's graduation in sacramento from sac state. my dad is on his way over to come get me to take me and then he's bringing me back tomorrow so i'll have time to work on my poster.

in a way, i'm kinda glad i get to be away, even if it's for only a short while. i feel that i am starting to go mad here. i've had a lot on my mind lately and i don't know if i want it all to be over...

GROUNDED...FINALLY!

today was the first day in the past several weeks that i didn't feel like i was going to fall down the stairs in stevenson on my way down. i think i finally grounded myself after that intense part of class this morning when lew told us that we have no hope. this was our final class today, since there is nothing else that is due and we had our last guest speaker, david van nuys, come and talk about his career and his company on focus groups. anyways, after class, i hunted down our prof maria (she had left the class cause we were doing evaluations) and thanked her for a wonderful class and gave her a hug. it made me realize how much i miss hugging people and how much i love hugs...

GUEST SPEAKERS: AWESOME

we had some awesome guest speakers today.

i guess in a way that makes up for missing out on getting my free stuff from the alumni table out at the senior send-off celebration. darn me for already signing up for the alumni. however i did get my free hotdog, chips, soda, and oreo cookies on a pepsi frisbee...

karin shared her photos. there was an awesome photo of her with a zebra and another one i liked of her holding a large ziplock bag full of dead monkey.

she let me borrow the discovery channel video changing sexes male to female we had already seen the female to male video in class, but didn't get to see this one since our guest speakers were able to make it.

she said i did a good job on my presentation. i think she meant it. i think i'll leave it at that and not try to analyze if i think it meant anything other than what she literally said.

PRESENTATION: OVER

yay! my presentation is over and done with! that's one less thing to worry about...

today is karin's slide show. come by if you're at sonoma state. it'll be from noon to 1 in STEV 2065. don't say i didn't let you know about it! BE THERE!

SO NEXT YEAR...

today she asked me as we were leaving class... so, you're not going to be living here next year? now i can take that in several different ways. one is, she wonders why i would be moving to sacramento at all; two, she forgot yet again that i'm graduating; or three, she actually cares and might even miss me next year... i can only hope it's the latter. you know how i am about going to great lengths to get people to like me...

1 DOWN

yipee! i finished my natural selection paper! i hope that no more than 5 pages didn't mean 5 pages but no more than 5 pages, because my paper was only 4 pages.

it's like completing my exam and thinking, i didn't even write all that much, while the person next to me has written a book.

END OF PASSOVER

last night was the end of passover, so i spent the day with yael. she came by and picked me up and took me to the mall to find something to wear for my banquet. i found a couple of shirts i liked, but couldn't find any pants that would fit me right. the pants were all too long and the capris i tried on all looked like high waters. i guess that's what i get for being short... anyways, so we went over to target to look and i found something there. then, we picked up some groceries at trader joe's and then at oliver's and then went back to yael's and had some passover snacks and made cupcakes and got ready for wendy and teresa to get off work. we had pizza, salad, different breads and cheeses, and cupcakes. we had a good time.

now since i took yesterday off from working on my paper, i need to work on it today and either try to finish it, or get a good portion of it completed since tomorrow i have to meet with my group to do some filming and i have no idea how long that's going to take...

ONE DAY CLOSER TO GRADUATION

last night i went to the mission improv-able show in warren auditorium with mike and melissa. there were some good laughs, especially about the "you stepped on my toe, foo'" when the word tofu had to be used in the scene. all in all it was funny, and the blue team won this time.

we got our scores on our child dev quizzes and i missed 3 again, same as in quiz 1, but she gave us a freebie and so it was like i only missed 2. not too bad.

oh... the FBI came to my class yesterday. no, they weren't there looking for anyone. they came to talk to us about career opportunities within the FBI... i picked up some information for mary. now i just need to send it to her.

dr. john wingard gave a powerpoint presentation on his ethnographic field school in belize during our anthro club meeting, attempting to recruit students for this summer. he brought three ameci's pizzas, one pepperoni, one cheese, and one olive, and so there was plenty of pizza to go around. i think he knew my name or something, cause i could've sworn he said "amy, can you turn off the lights?" maybe i just heard him wrong though. i mean, he doesn't know who i am. i've never had a class with him and i've never even talked to him. oh well, perhaps i'll never know...

after class, i came back and after watching nothing really good on television, i finally got some shut eye and when i woke up, i was still sleepy... i just want to sleep, but now i probably won't be able to...

oh, but i received the article from mr. osborne and read it. if you find it, you should read it, "15 Answers to Creationist Nonsense" by John Rennie. it was in the july 2002 issue of Scientific American

TAKE BACK THE NIGHT!

so, last night i went to take back the night in the cooperage at 7pm. boy was that emotional. 12 girls shared their rape stories and then we had the chance to participate in a campus walk/march and chant and then paint our hand in paint and place it on a banner with our name. i still have green paint on my hands. anyways, i didn't get back until almost 10, and it wasn't until then that i realized, dang, i've been gone for 3 hours.

tonight they're having an improv show called mission improv-able in warren at 7:15pm. i might go to that. don't know for sure yet.

i just submitted my nomination for outstanding educator of the year. we'll see how that goes.

a nap sounds good. too bad there's nothing good on television. there never seems to be.

UPDATE

i get to play on the teeter totter! i'm meeting my friend shannon after her class at 5:20 tonight and we're going to go play, YAY! i can't wait!

DANG IT FEELS GOOD!

i'm so glad my test is behind me now. it took me an hour to complete, so i was finished by 2pm, not bad for a 302 exam. i feel pretty darn good about it though. there were 7 questions worth a total of 30 points. i'm pretty confident that i did well.

i'm also glad to have my child dev. quiz over and done with. that one had 31 multiple choice questions and we got to use a page of notes front and back, but i'm not sure i did very well on it. there were a few confusing questions...

they have the teeter totter out in the quad today. they're trying to raise money for cystic fibrosis, or so i've been told, and it'll be out there for 48 hours. you can play on it for as long as you want for only $1. can't beat that. plus, it's for a good cause. if i can convince someone to go out there with me, i'd like to try it out. sounds kinda fun. plus, this year they have better seats!

dang, i'm a sucker for chris carrabba and dashboard confessional. i'm always listening to them. you should listen to them too.

STUDY STUDY STUDY. NO MORE STUDY.

chris came up for a visit this past weekend and we had a fun time, even though he didn't get in until late friday night, or should i say super early saturday morning... his train was delayed about 2 1/2 hours and so he had to ride a cab. but the cool thing was that the cab driver brought him to the campus and i didn't have to bother wendy to get up and drive me over to the bus stop to pick him up, especially since she had to wake up early for work in the morning. anyways, i showed him around campus, we ate breakfast in the cafeteria, stopped by the lacrosse game and saw our guys score a point, and then came back. saturday night we ate mac and cheese and teriyaki chicken and then when wendy got back from work we went to blockbuster to rent billy madison (only one of the greatest quotable movies ever besides monty python and the holy grail), picked up some toilet paper, and got ice cream at coldstone before coming back and watching the movie and laughing our heads off.

the past couple of days my imaginary brain tumor has been enlarging and giving me a killer headache.

i finally finished my 8 page paper and did my notes for my child dev. quiz tomorrow. my group met in the library sunday and wrote up some interview questions for our video project. now i need to dedicate as much time studying for my anth 302 exam as i've spent doing nothing.

i hope i haven't blown my chance.

i got out of class early today. i should've come back and been a good student and studied or read or worked on my 8-10 page paper that's due next week. however, i felt that i was too tired to do this stuff and slept for a couple of hours instead.

okay, and so maybe i watched a couple of movies on television as well... but i also did read some too, and it wasn't just reading... it was reading for class!

i'm trying to think of what else i have to say. i'm sure there's more, but i can't think of anything at the moment.

oh, but i made myself dinner tonight and it was super yummy. i georged (verb) some hamburger patties and some red onion, i sliced some tomatoes, and had a salad (with the good kind of lettuce). ;)

okay, if i think of anything else, i'll let you know. bye bye for now.

SEX SIGNALS

yael called me up and i went over to her house for dinner. she made raviolis that were really good with chicken and veggies and she, teresa, and i ate. then, i got to go to the rec center and got a free sticker after signing away my life. it's the first time i've officially been inside past the front. anyways, yael had to go get her bag that she left there. then, we went to the cooperage for the 7pm show "sex signals" brought to the campus by safe and some other organizations and it consisted of a man named christian and a woman named kelly who did improv on sexual assault prevention. just follow the above link to their site to find out more information about their show...

yayayay! class is cancelled tomorrow!!! i get to sleep in!

COOKING FOOL

tonight i made macaroni and cheese, and it wasn't the kraft kind. nope, instead, i found myself a recipe online which called for a pound of noodles, which of course meant, A LOT of macaroni and cheese. but hey, it only called for elbow noodles, cheddar cheese, flour, butter, and milk... all ingredients that can be found in our kitchen. and hey, it was pretty darn good!

last night, wendy and i made easy blueberry crunch after getting the sample at trader joe's during our irresponsible day after going to applebee's. that was pretty darn good too! especially with vanilla ice cream... oh so good.

i just got my copy of ratfe's song's not to get married to. perhaps uncle rusty and "almost" aunt pat will take the title's advice and not use any of the songs during their wedding. i also got a free rafte shirt with my order. pretty darn cool, eh? it has a train with a face on it in white on a navy blue shirt. i'm going to wear it tomorrow.

today was myLove's irresponsible day, but he found out that he didn't like irresponsible day because he found himself doing nothing. i, of course, watched television most of the day for my irresponsible day. of course, i watched movies that had been shown and wendy and i had watched the previous day... oh the joys of seeing the same movies all the time on tnt. this time it was you've got mail, the divine secrets of the ya ya sisterhood, and miss congeniality... thus i am so tired tonight.

if only i can stay away from the cinnamon almonds.

OH HOW I HATE THEE CINGULAR

let me just reiterate how much i hate cingular! i HATE CINGULAR!!! they are horrible horrible. they are worse than any other company i have called the devil! sometimes when i answer my phone, i can't hear the person on the other line. now my phone has decided that even though i've entered peoples names and numbers, when some people call me from that number, their name won't pop up and so i don't know who's calling me. now, i learned that it costs 10 cents per text message, whether or not it is sent or received, or if cingular sends you junk messages. you're freaken paying for junky messages that they send to you! my disgust can reach no further at this point...gRRRRRRRRR!!!

SOME GOOD NEWS I HAVE YET TO SHARE WITH Y'ALL

that's right, there's some good news... a few days ago uncle rusty asked pat to marry him and she said yes. then they went out and chose a ring. they're official now and we very happy for them. yay! almost aunt pat is now almost aunt pat!

ATTACK OF THE RAIN

huge colossal sized raindrops fell from the sky attacking anyone outdoors. thus the consequences of getting out of class early. and then just like that, it the attack stopped and the sun showed its face.

i missed 3 problems on my quiz. not too bad.

DUMB QUIZ

26 questions later, i have finished my quiz for child development. now we must wait around to work on chapter projects. what a waste... i wish i were working alone...

SHORT TEST

i finished my test in about 30 minutes. it mostly seemed harmless. unless she wanted me to explain more on some of the answers, then i should have only missed a few points total. we shall know in about a week...

CINGULAR? DREAMS OR NIGHTMARES?

okay, so i've said it before... cingular is the devil, but now my phone decided that it wanted to exclusively say cingular a couple of days ago, so i won't complain... as long as it still works the same.

also... i keep having dreams, or should i say nightmares? that i am either late to class, don't make it to class, or am late turning in my work... i should really finish those papers for tuesday and then study some for thursday's test... perhaps that would ease the dreams for a bit.

I'M ON MY WAY BACK... TO BRENTWOOD... (LITERALLY)

haha, this is GREAT! i'm literally on my way back to antioch. that's right, i'm on the train and i'm using their wireless internet access. this is SO cool, even though they say that it's only going to be free the first 3 months and it's only available on this one car on the train.

of course, we had to wait over an hour for the train to get to corcoran...

but i had a good day today at school with mom. the kids are absolutely hilarious and i'll have to tell you all about it at a later time. anyways, i'm going to take advantage of the train's wireless access and plug-in while i can...

PORTERVILLE COLLEGE

i am sitting here in precalculus not paying attention to anything that's going on other than wondering when vira's going to get here, or if she's coming today... all the way here to see her and i might not even get to.

i saw victoria and talked to her a bit this morning. i shall go back to eat some of her yummy breakfast. it's the best!

i also saw henry already and i'm supposed to see him again around 9am. i brought my camera. i am ready.

mr. osborne is giving a talk today at noon. i shall try to make it.

we shall see who else i see today...

by the way, remind me to tell you all about my recent incidences... missing the train... getting my check card stolen. i'm just waiting for the third bad thing to happen...

HAPPY EASTER!?

yes, today is easter, but i also found out that my cute little keychain check card was stolen and used at dominos not once, but twice, and took place two days in a row. so now that i have called and cancelled it, and vicky has been a sweetheart, i have just the time waiting for five business days to pass for it to get here...

maybe it'll be good not being able to spend money for a few days...

oh yeah, and happy easter all!

MY WEEKEND THUS FAR...

i have finished my commitment for my careers class which was to finish reading the montessori method by maria montessori, which was an awesome book. now i need to dedicate much of my waking hours before tuesday to studying for my 302 exam on tuesday. 5 lectures, and i only feel comfortable with one including testes determining factor (tdf) and sex determining region of the Y chromosome (sry), 5-? reductase deficiency, androgen insensitivity syndrome, klinefelter's, and INAH3 and homosexuality... dang, i still need to study lots of stuff...

also, i went to the men's lacrosse game yesterday and actually stayed for the whole time. the wind was blowing quite a bit, but other than that, it was pretty nice outside. not much sun, but nice still... they were playing oregon and beat them 16-6, so it was a pretty exciting game and all.

MY CAREER PATH

according to my spirits, those that are watching over me, my career path in to work with 7th and 8th graders as a counselor, one that they make appointments with either at some large school or facility such as that for troubled kids. the spirit communications demo channeler saw me making good money, around $70k, and being able to really help these kids who are facing many changes in their lives in becoming adults yet wanting to stay kids. i should use a more holistic approach to help them as opposed to a more traditional approach, but i am really able to reach them. while this is perhaps what i am meant to do, she reminded me that i must not forget that i still have choice and free will. it's just interesting how school counselor is something that i've actually been thinking about doing since i like kids and i enjoy helping people.

I HATE YOU SSU

have i mentioned how sucky this school is?

so, since i heard back from both mom and dad that they're going to come to the psych department's graduation banquet, i wanted to get my money turned in today, since the cutoff date for the $15 tickets is on sunday. so, i walked over to the atm to get some money out and then went over to psych department. they wouldn't take my money since psi chi is in charge of it, and suggested that i mail it and get a postmark. so, since i only had one envelope with me, i walked over to the bookstore to get another one and on my way out, i realized that i probably shouldn't send cash, even though it was only going to the school through the post office on campus, so i stopped by us bank to see if i could purchase a money order, but then they told me that they only sell money orders if you have an account with them. so then i walked back over to the atm to put the money back into my account. i then walked all the way back to my apartment to get a check and fill out my envelopes and when i was finished, i had to again walk back over to the post office to have them postmark and mail it. oh, and perhaps i should mention that all during this time it was raining outside! grrrrr!!! this campus should be more user friendly!

MY AURA HEALING

OMG! i went to the clairvoyance and aura reading demo tonight and it was awesome. the berkeley institute of santa rosa was here and we each got an aura healing and a reading of a few of our past lives. plus, we did a couple of exercises after pairing up with the psychics. for my aura healing, i was paired up with a woman named cinnamon, who felt that i was very intuitive, and releasing lots of energy. i then paired up with her when we learned how to ground and unground ourselves. i then paired up with a man named merrill, who used his chakras to read my aura and tell me about my past lives. he could see a yellowish green layer. in my first past life i was a very happy woman. i had a husband and a family and lived in the 13th or 14th century. i was happy because of my family and my family was very important to me. in another of my lives i was a man who was on a barge or a raft or something. i had lots of time for contemplation and thinking, but not much time to actually do much. i spent a lot of time in my work and it wasn't something that i really wanted to do but just did. he could see some kind of art too. in the third past life i was a woman who was helping to dig a cellar to store foods and be a place for protection for coming storms and i had a family. his suggestion was that from a meditation base i write down some spiritual goals, three or four of them.

let me reiterate that this was an awesome experience that has opened my eyes and filled me with energy.

EVERYONE THINKS I'M CRAZY

perhaps my actions have reinforced this viewpoint? judge for yourself...

last night i went to an animal communications demo in the pub that was part of the psychics on campus this week. marta williams was there doing demos and since there were only six of us that went, she did a demo for each of us. i had her communicate with my dog lassie and by giving her a description, she was able to tell me that lassie likes to bark a lot and act crazy and that she has arthritis for which she suggested giving her a raw food diet. she also told me that she got the feeling that she really likes seeing me above all other people. she then asked her why she likes to go between my legs and was told that it's a fun game that i'm the only one who will with her. so hey, i was pretty convinced, even though also skeptic at the same time...

today we had a pizza party for anthro club. i took my camera of course and i was talking to a girl from class, who happens to remind me of my friend angelica. well, we somehow got to talking about taking pictures of feet and so she let me take a picture of her feet and then i went around and asked people in the room if i could take a picture of their feet. okay, so i got some pretty weird looks and karin even wanted to know if i had a foot fetish, but i assured her i don't. but hey, they let me take pictures of her feet and even harry let me take a picture of his feet...

tonight i'm going to the clairvoyance and aura reading demo. oooooo!

finally, i wanted to dress up like a leprechaun for st. paddy's day, but didn't get a chance, but i was teasing wendy saying that i was going to go around jumping up and down saying "I'M A LEPRECHAUN AND I KNOW WENDY HORN!" for all the world to hear and for her to be embarrassed.

perhaps i am a bit crazy...

TAROT READING DEMO

tonight i went to the free tarot reading demo in the pub given by victor daniel's wife kooch. i drew the world card, which she explained to me had to do with traveling and going places and doing lots of things.

check out her site here.

i'm thinking about checking out the other demos throughout the week...

on another note, i received an invitation to the psychology department's graduation banquet to be held the eve of graduation. i also received my stickers today, so if anyone's interested, check out an image here. they'll be going for $1 each. drop me a line if you're interested.

i also just made my train reservations to head to porterville mon-wed of spring break. it cost me a whoopin' $52.70. dang it sure is expensive riding the train.

HOLE IN MY FINGER

yesterday wendy and i went grocery shopping. so hey, now we have food in the apartment again. but wait... when we were putting the groceries in the trunk, i poked my thumb on some sharp thing on the top of the underneath of the trunk and punctured my thumb. it bled, but not much, and then throbbed like my thumb had been smashed. i was just glad that it didn't go underneath my thumbnail. man, that would've HURT! but hey, it's feeling better, except when i keep hitting it. i never realized how much i need my right thumb and how much i keep hitting it against something. OUCH!

GIFT CERTIFICATES AND FREE STUFF

so, i just got back a little while ago from the lacrosse game, which was actually quite exciting to watch. safe, or student advocates for education were there giving away free long sleeved tshirts, water bottles, and star shaped highlighters that have a different color for each tip of the star. i only stayed until halftime, but hey, you can't beat free stuff!

before going to the game, i went to the survey opportunity they were having in the library. it took about an hour and a half to two hours, but i got a muffin, a book, a $10 gift certificate to charlie brown's cafe, and i'll be getting a $25 online gift certificate that i'll be able to use at over 50 different online stores. plus, i was put into a drawing for an ipod. hey, can't beat that...

last night wendy, yael, and i went to the big cats show in the cooperage. leopards, etc. brought 5 of their big cats to show us including a lynx, mountain lion (cougar), cheetah, oselat, and a snow leopard. we wanted to pet them!!! go to leopards, etc's website for more information. i also took some photos!

afterward, we went to mom's boarding house to get dinner. i got the mom's philly cheesesteak sandwich, which was really good. plus, their onion rings are awesome! in fact, i'm going to go eat my leftovers now...

CHILLIN'

did some chillin' with brandon from across the hall. he got locked out while vicky was at work and after spending some time out in the living room reading wendy's copy of wild animus (the only book out there) and playing with the cat, i thought i would ask him if he would like to come watch tv. so, we ended up talking and watching cops and police chase videos. meanwhile, the music he had playing in the room was skipping on this one part of the song and it ended up sounding quite hilarious.

speaking of hilarious, yesterday karin had us listen to a super hilarious sound clip in explaining to our 302 class that while aggression is more commonly seen in males, females can also be quite aggressive. check this out!

I MADE IT BACK IN GOOD TIME!

so, my train actually made it in decent time. it was under 20 minutes late. so that means i got back here around 8pm last night! perhaps my luck with the train has finally changed.

we got our tests back in 318. i missed a point. i can't believe i actually missed a point!

THIS WEEK'S UPDATE

tues:
anth 318: "ah you're so nice, you're like the blackboard eraser" --karin (after i erased the board after class)
psy 410: lost as ever.
anth 302: exam 1. it was quite a bit of writing. i totally blanked on the last question, but guessed. after checking, i found out that my guess was correct. of course i didn't write much about it cause i wasn't sure if it was correct. so hopefully i'll get some points outta answering it. hey, it pays to not leave anything blank. before the exam, kim and i were talking about how we like to sit in the same seat in class and i was saying how thrown off i get if someone takes my seat. karin understood how pissed you can get at that person for taking your seat. grrr! don't take my seat!
after class wendy and i went to take the collegiate learning assessment, an online test in which we had to write an essay and then reply to a statement. but hey, we made $20 for just 90 minutes of our time. hey, we couldn't pass up making an easy $20. by the way, if anyone has a test like that they'll pay me to take, then hey, sign me up. wendy found out she got the job at the jewelry store. congrats to wendy wendy wendy horn. later that night, we decided to spend part of our money and ordered take-out from bakers square. boy do i love their mixed grill, yum yum!

wed:
psy 490: we had two guest speakers, the first talked about career services and the second about sports psychology. both quite interesting.

thurs:
anth 318: we had to count ourselves out into groups (of 7) and for about half the class, i had to sit in the back corner. ugh!
psy 410: still lost a bit, but we got a little more explanation that made some sense. we have three different assignments, two of which are group projects with different groups. it's just kinda a lot to think about at this time... most of class was spent in our pbl groups in which we have to make up a portfolio on our topics (ours is gangs) and take notes for an individual paper to turn in. the worst part of this is that it's due in two weeks, not giving us much time to spend on it.
lunch turned in my psi chi application today with the check for $55. ah it was so hard parting with that money...
psy 302: the projector died halfway through lecture, which meant that karin had to use the board, which was kinda difficult to follow with the printed lecture notes. after lecture, we watched the film different but equal put out by the learning channel. let me just say that it was quite an interesting film. there were lots of boobs and nasty women who were super muscly body builders. but it was also interesting too. when she asked if we wanted to finish the film next class, one of the guys quickly replied, "yes!" before anyone else and we all knew why he wanted to see the rest of it...

other things i've been working on updating my site so check it out here.

latest teachings... we learned a bit about twins and homosexuality today. part of what we talked about was the difference between identical and fraternal twins. karin has a twin brother. yep, you learn something new every day.

FACEBOOK ADDICT

okay, so i could never really get into friendster or myspace all that much. i mean, i have an account at those places, as well as the namesdatabase, and i check them periodically, but thefacebook.com blows these others outta the water. you connect to others by school and can even find high school friends as well. the cool thing about this is that you can see what school they're going to, what classes they're taking, what their current information is, including phone and email... plus, if you enter your current classes, you can see others who are in class with you. i just hope that it gains as much popularity as the other services and recommend that if you're wanting to join one, join this one.

GOOD NEWS COMES MY WAY!

yep, you heard right, i have some good news finally.

last night i got a call from myLove, who found my keys in the back of uncle rusty's car. he's supposed to send them to wendy so i can get them, hopefully before the week's end.

on another good note, i received a call from the post office to come pick up my phone today, which means that all i had to do was walk down there, show them my id and get my package. no hassle with the blue slip. yay!

BAD THINGS COME IN 3s

okay, so i guess it could've started with my phone and its glitch which won't enable me to get to or add any contacts. kevin called cingular up yesterday and spent almost 2 hours on the phone, half of which was on hold, listening to suggestions of what to do to get my phone to work correctly, none of which did any good. so, it finally came down to them sending me a new phone, which is going to cost my dad $14.99 for shipping and handling, and me sending back my phone. of course this means that i had to take off my photos and will lose my ringtones and games i had on my phone since there is no way to take these off.

you think that's something, there's more...

upon arrival at the train station last night, we quickly ate our carls jr. burgers so we could get out to wait for the train (i'm anal about getting there early). well, after waiting, kevin called amtrak, which announced my train (train 715) delayed over an hour. so, while it was supposed to get there at 6:01pm, it was delayed till 7:24pm. okay, so we were going to have to wait for about an hour. but no, another call put the train's arrival time at 7:54pm and another call put the arrival time at 8:21pm. finally, it was scheduled to arrive at 8:31pm and actually showed up around that time after we had waited and waited, meanwhile 3 freight trains had gone by as well as the 7:02pm southbound train heading to bakersfield. standing there in the cold rain, i was beginning to think that my train would have to pull over to the side and let the next train (717) go by. so in the time it took us waiting for the train, myLove could've driven me all the way back up to school and been halfway back. well, so at least the train came. but then when i got on the bus, we had to wait (at least it didn't take too long) for the police to show up because one of the ladies riding the bus almost got mugged when she was standing outside. so, i guess i could've taken the next train since it didn't put me back up here until around 10:30pm. i have the worst train luck...

but wait... there's more...

so, this morning i reach into my pocket to make sure my keys are there and guess what? yep, that's right, no keys. so then i tried to think back to when i remember i last had my keys and i couldn't. but then i remembered that i put them on my pants at kevin's before church. usually i stick them in my pocket, but the pockets in the pants i was wearing that day are very deep and it's hard to get anything out of them. after that, i don't remember anything else about them. well, so this means they are still there somewhere, in uncle rusty's car that we rode in to church, or even worse, they came off at church or the restaurant we ate at after church. so, not only am i locked out of my apartment if no one's here to open the door for me, but i can't get my mail, which means that i won't be able to get my phone to send back the phone i have within 48 hours, which means that devil of a place known as cingular is going to charge me for the phone they sent to me.

i only pray that myLove or uncle rusty will find my keys and that i can get them back within a day or so... sucks to be me, eh?

CINGULAR IS THE DEVIL!!!

yep, you heard me right. right now it's even above peoplesoft if that tells you anything.

so, i was talking to my love on the phone last night, not too late, when all of a sudden, my phone goes off. i look at it and when it comes on (all by itself), i see that there is no picture. so, i turn it off and turn it back on again. it plays the dumb little song and shows the nokia picture that cingular includes on their phones. of course, being an at&t customer previously, i have never had to deal with such annoying nonsense. well, so then i notice that the wallpaper is still gone and when i go to check everything else, i notice that there are no pictures or contacts and all the settings appear to have been reset. plus, all my dialed numbers are erased as well as my call timers. so, it appears that cingular has sent out an update and some of my preset graphics are unsupported and i've lost all my contacts. other than being reset, i think that everything else is alright. the photos i took are still there, my dates in the organizer are still okay, the time didn't change, even though i took the battery and the sim card out, wtf? the problem seems to be with the contacts and the fact that at first i couldn't access them and now it's saying that there are none. of course, while this is a pain and super annoying since some of my contacts were only in my phone and no where else, i can't even go and try to add in new ones because it's still giving me an error. so the only thing i can do is save my contacts to the sim card.

damn you cingular! i hate you you are the DEVIL!!!

is anyone else having problems with their phone since cingular took over?

BACK IN THE SCHOOL ZONE

that's right, i'm back up here at school and i don't think i've ever missed my love as much as i do.

i just picked up my books from the bookstore and with the readers i had to get, i spent about $240 on books for the semester. did a name change and turned it in. my loan went through and i still owe just under $2000 for my housing. i just need to get my scholarship paperwork together to send off for that $2000 and finish my graduation application paperwork by the 14th.

i made my reservations through amtrak for valentine's weekend and since the track is closed up through the 11th, i don't get to leave till saturday the 12th. i had to cancel the first reservation i made since it was early and the county transit doesn't run that early in the morning. so now i should get to antioch around 2:17pm on the 12th, leaving again on the 14th.

i am now officially amy scott and shouldn't have to worry about identity confusion any longer.

karin used the photo i took of her on her website. you can find it here.

ANOTHER BLOW

so, today is my birthday. i'm now 23. yesterday my parents' house was burglarized. they took all mom's jewelry and most of all, her stuff of personal sentimental value. from me they only took some cds and dvds from my room. what idiots. they should've just taken the televisions and stuff like that... you know, the stuff that can be replaced. so, if you live around the porterville area, could you please be on the lookout for such items as old brooches, some crystal, and most importantly my papa's dogtags with the name tom gordon on them. please. thanks.

A WHITE VACATION

happy new year peoples! sorry i haven't written in a while. i've been having a nice break. in fact, i'm in idaho at the moment, going to leave tomorrow for california. there's tons of snow on the ground and it snowed all last night. so yeah, i had to play in the snow.
