so, tomorrow's coming up real soon, and it'll be the first of the month, which means that my housing payment is due. i'm so screwed if my loan, which STILL hasn't gone through, still hasn't gone through by then. the last date to pay for classes is the 8th, so i still have about a week for that, but housing is due tomorrow and i don't want to have a late fee attached. gaH! please please PLEASE go through loan! i went by financial aid today after class and they're supposed to give me a call tomorrow, so i have my fingers crossed. what a hassle!
the band the matches played today at noon. they jumped around a lot. i took some pictures, but they're on my phone and i can't get them off unless i get a cable or infrared. another gaH! i guess they just came back from playing the warped tour. i picked up their cd and had them sign it for me. guess i'll have to keep track of them now. one of my roommates, vicky, knows them. she's how i found out about them playing today.

MY LOVE AND MY STUPID COMPUTER
my love just left. he spent the night and now he already had to go back home. i was so happy to see him though. it was well worth it. last night we got food at in n out and on our way out, this little kid screamed at me. it was super high pitched and loud. we just had to laugh all the way out to the car. we came back and ate and then played sequence with wendy. i won the first and last games and kevin won the second. wendy came in second place during the first game. my love installed office for me on my computer, but i can't use word, powerpoint, or excel until i get more memory. what a piece of crap computer i got. i can't even use the software i need on it without dishing out at least $50 more than i've already paid. this morning we slept in, probably since we didn't get to sleep until around 1am, and then we went to arbys to eat and came back here for a little bit until my love had to leave. but now it's only 4 1/2 more days until i get to be with him again and i really can't wait for then.
latest teachings... never buy a computer, cause when you do, they will put out a newer and better one a whole lot cheaper than what you paid... it never fails...

MY LOVE IS COMING TO SEE ME!!!
that's right, my love is coming to see me this weekend, and in fact, he's on his way now and should be here in a couple of hours. i can't wait, i can't wait! i'm so excited! it seems as though it's been a month since the last time i've seen him, even though it's only been about a week. i can't wait for him to be here, to be in his arms, and to give him a big hug and a kiss...

THE MADNESS OF THE BOOKSTORE
last night i went to amazon.com to see if i could find any of my texts at a very good price. i found the text i need for my social psy class for a mere $4.75, and with shipping and handling, it only came to $8.24, probably less than a quarter of what i would have had to pay at the bookstore, thank god!
so, i went by the bookstore today to pick up a book for my forensic anthro class. it was a frickin' $83.75. isn't that horrendous? it should be a crime. of course, i had to buy it new, so that didn't help at all. and then i checked the price on office for mac and since it was only $79.95, i picked up a copy of that too, and so for a total of two items, my receipt rang up for $175.98. gaH! now i'm just waiting for the first of the month so i won't be totally broke anymore.
on a happy note, i booked my train reservation to see my love on labor day weekend. so, i'll be leaving on the 2nd and coming back the 6th. i can't wait! it's less than a week now... :-D
latest teachings... if you can buy your books elsewhere, do so. the bookstore is the DEVIL!

Michael and Jose Venegas born August 25th 1981. Michael is 2 minutes older than Jose. Does that still make Jose the baby or the little brother?
We are going to be 23 yrs. old. I would like to thank God for another year of life and would also like to thank God for so many wonderful friends. Have a great day and God bless you.
while we're wishing happy birthdays out to the twins, i'd also like to add a very happy birthday to my friend karsten barde. it is his birthday today as well.
so, happy birthday mike, jose, and karsten!

A SEMESTER OF EARLY MORNINGS
so, although school starts tomorrow, i don't have class till thursday. i'm already beginning to wake up earlier. yesterday it wasn't even morning anymore when i got up, it was around 12. this morning was a little better, more around 10. tomorrow might be earlier yet to prepare for my 8am class on thursday. ugh! sometimes i wonder why i signed up for a two day a week 8am class, but then again, it's forensic anthro. can't beat that, eh?
still miss my love, but if things work out, i can see him over labor day weekend, and all for the train price of only $15.30. not too bad, eh? especially since that time last year, it cost me about $77 to ride the train down last minute to porterville. talk about UGH!

:(
i'm really missing my love. this is the first day since he came up here and saved me from the mean castle that i haven't seen him or spent the day with him. we were together every day over summer. every single day! i sure do miss my love, my hunka hunka burnin' love...
BACK AT SCHOOL
so, it's school time again, and i'm still getting situated and in the routine around here. i finally put some pictures of my love up on the walls. they were above my bed, but then we rearranged the furniture and now they're above my desk. so, it doesn't look exactly like yael's and my room last year.
i still haven't gotten to know the other roommates yet. hardly even see the girls on the other side of the apartment. we'll see how it ends up this year. they're all sophmores.
kevin started at chabot today. i guess his classes went alright. although he dropped his phone again and this time it cracked a little. then i guess since he couldn't take a pee earlier, he had to go back and take his pee in the little cup. isn't drug testing great?!
my financial aid hasn't kicked in yet and i'm worried about my classes being dropped. if i get dropped, i'm screwed! there's no way i would be able to get into them all again. i went down to the finaid office and found out the reason they haven't been able to process the paperwork is because the name i use here at the school is amy l. scott and my social security card has my korean name on it. now i have to change my name over to my korean name so the names match up and i can get my loan money so i can then get my scholarship money. ugh! the hassle!!
last night was BIG night. they had some bouncy air thingys and some other stuff. wendy and i went for a while, but we were still way tired and so we came back even before the live music started and before we got to the front of the line for the balloon guy to make us a cool balloon animal or thing.
well, i'm already ready to take a trip to visit my love. i just might over labor day weekend. we'll see about that.

CAP'T TOE'S GETTING MARRIED
that's right, capt toe is getting married today at 3pm here in town. one thing about capt toe is how she always used to say, "see amy, we don't need any guys." hahaha, now she's getting married. best of luck to her and her groom-to-be.

A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY...
a very happy birthday to setareh. if you haven't caught on by now, we went to see her this past weekend. plus, amir says i get first dibs on her if something ever happens to him. dang, then i guess she couldn't adopt me...
DRIVING SOUTH FOR THE WEEKEND
this past weekend was spent down south with friends and family.
friday: morining we headed to irvine to see amir and setareh. we probably got there a little after 2 or so. they took us to eat at a persian restaurant called caspians. kevin and i had chicken kabobs with rice and amir and setareh had lamb shank. eww. i didn't try any of that. then, we stopped by a bakery before amir took us on a drive through the campus. we went back to their place before we went to the irvine spectrum to look around. had a drink at jamba juice and then sat listening to a lady playing the guitar and singing for a while. she was taking requests, but none of us wanted to go up and ask her if she would play any eminem or blink 182. so we went to eat at red robin, since kevin wanted an A1 peppercorn burger. i got a green balloon. setareh tied it around my wrist. as we were leaving, kevin saw a barnes and noble and wanted to go look around. setareh went to look at some clothes when she found out he wasn't interested in the starbucks upstairs. amir and i went to look in a toy store meanwhile. after we left, we stopped by blockbuster and rented the movie honey, starring me. ;) haha... didn't get to bed till late.
saturday: woke up late. went out to breakfast at a french cafe. then, we walked through a farmer's market tasting some of the samples. amir and setareh picked up a few things. we got some peaches. went back to their place and got ready to leave for emily and bryon's. it didn't take us long to reach their place. we talked for a while and then we went to see around the world in 80 days at the bargain theatre, which was only $1 a person. even at night, the price is still only $1.50. i sure wish there were a bargain theatre closer to where i am. i figured you could go see every movie that's playing and it'd still be cheaper than if you went to see one movie at the regular theatre. after the movie was over, we went to eat at the elephant bar. i had a grill burger. then, we all split a cheesecake. yum yum. afterward, we went back to their place and although we were tired, only emily went to bed and bryon put on the movie enemy of the state and we watched that before going to bed.
sunday: emily and bryon skipped church to take us out to breakfast at a place called mike's. after eating there, we stopped by a huge thrift store, savers, and looked around there before leaving for palmdale and all the joshua trees... oh yeah, and i guess wendy too... we talked with wendy and her dad and played with her dogs harry and shadow until we got hungry and went to a burger place called tommies that had chili burgers and good fries. their milkshakes were the best though. kevin got a strawberry one and i had some of it. afterward, she drove us around to show us some of palmdale and lancaster. we even stopped by the 99 cent only store. when we got back to her place, we sat around and watched some tv with her mom, until everyone got hungry again and we had pizza hut and salad, made by wendy herself. pretty impressive, eh? jk. we left a little before 9 and made our way back home. we got back to porterville around 11:30.
so, it was a fun short little trip. it was nice to get away for a while and get to spend time with friends and family we don't get to see very often, although amir and setareh are planning to be in town this weekend for natalie's wedding... we'll see how that all goes...

THRIFT STORE SHOPPING
yesterday, my friend tracey and i went thrift store shopping and boy did we come back with a deal. first we went to the women's shelter thrift shop on mill. tracey found a sweater and i found a few books--an origami book for julie, house of sand and fog, and a book on shorthand. then, we went over to the sheltered workshop's thrift store where we made a killing finding books. there was a 10 for $1 sale on paperback books and between the two of us, we found 10 books. got a great tony hawk book that looks brand new and was originally $15, a couple of books by erich fromm--escape from freedom and zen buddhism and psychoanalysis, plato's the last days of socrates, jung's analytical psychology, and the age of analysis, a book of 20th century philosophers. i also found two more hardback books on shorthand, a statistics text, and an adventures in english literature text to add to my american literature book. i also found a jacket for 50 cents and a pair of nippers for mom for another 50 cents. all those finds for only $4, not too bad, eh? afterwards we had lunch at jenny lynn's where i haven't been since david took us. i almost forgot how good their hamburgers are. later, kevin came by and took me to see the manchurian candidate at the theatre. we missed about the first three or four minutes, but not enough to make that much of a difference. good movie, but he left to go to the bathroom during the only scary part of the movie, which was when they showed his dream of the scary people with stuff on their faces. or maybe i just get scared too easily.

INCUBUS IN CONCERT
okay, so the concert last night was super! more of that to come... but first...
bit of a bummer, cause kelly was unable to go, even though we went like 2 hours early and waited around for him and we called him numerous times leaving messages on his phone with rene' calling too. while waiting, we even went by subway, which was a huge disappointment to me. okay, so i might be a bit spoiled by our subway on henderson, which was just recently remodeled, but this subway was absolutely by far the worst subway i've been to. i don't even think the girl knew what she was doing all that much. instead of looking at what she was putting on the sandwich, she looked at us asking what else we wanted. then, since there wasn't much mayo left, she put extra mustard on, like that would make up for it, and then drowned it in oil and vinegar, which was mixed together by the way. there was so much oil and vinegar on my sandwich that it was dripping off. that with all the mustard killed the taste. i was extremely disappointed. i will never go back to that subway. when we got back, kelly was still not home and still not answering his phone, so we drove to the bank. on our way back, he finally called us with only about an hour before the doors opened and said that he would be unable to make it. his girlfriend got kicked out of the house?? anyways, what made us mad that he had known 30 minutes before he called. he could at least have called us then so we could call and see if someone would want to drive from porterville that we knew. so, not only did a floor ticket go to waste, but also $32.50 out of kevin's pocket.
incubus was great. sparta opened up for them and they were okay, but nothing spectacular. there was one guy that was yelling for them to go home and telling them they sucked and other obscene things. they weren't that bad. where we were, we were surrounded by smokers, a couple smoking pot. but i swear, this was like the only place where people were smoking. had we of been able to move over to the right a few feet, we would've been out of the smoking crowd. there was one annoying girl next to me that was smoking. it was blowing right in my face and i couldn't breathe. kevin almost reached over and put her cigarette out with his fingers. there was another girl that was next to me later during the night that was smoking, but she was nice and asked me if it was blowing in my face. i hadn't even noticed she was smoking before that. some people started shoving each other and they started a mosh pit with like 7 guys next to us. while that was going on, i could actually see what was happening on the stage. a tall guy or guys always find there way right in front of me. always. it never fails. if i find a place i can see, some tall guy always comes and stands in front of me so i can't see. grrr! i think they should make all the tall people stand in the back!!! i would also kick out all the smokers! oh yeah, and i wouldn't allow beer or any alcohol at all. that way, no one could use the excuse, "move out of the way and let me to the front so i don't spill my $6 beer on you."
incubus played a rockin' set. personally, i didn't think they needed an opening band. it was nice having it be inside, cause even though it was hot from all the bodies, there was still air on that could occasionally be felt. plus, the people were not nearly as bad as the people at the phantom planet/hoobastank concert.
afterward, my love got his book, a t-shirt, and a couple stickers, one for johnny since he didn't get to go. however, we didn't get a water since they were $2.25.
on our way to the car, a train was stopped on the tracks across the street. we ran over the train and then as we were getting in the car, i found someone's keys and so we took them back. on our way back to the car again, another train came and stopped across the street. this time we walked on the train to get across. haha. so my love and i first ran over a train and then walked on one.
it was fun, but we got home super late and slept in till about 1:30pm today. dang, that's like half the day. hehehe. well, can't do that all the time, but it was fun while it lasted.

1 YEAR
yesterday, my love had the day off work, so he took me to the movies. we saw m. night shyamalan's new film, the village. it was the first scary movie i've ever seen in the theatre. afterward, we went to eat at asia garden. my love bought me a george foreman grill for our one year together anniversary. can you believe we've been together that long? my love had to go to work today, but i'm going to make him dinner tonight. we're going to have teriyaki chicken made on my new grill, with rice-a-roni, corn (our favorite), and salad (don't worry yael, it's romaine lettuce). for dessert, we're going to have my love's favorite, cherry cheesecake. it's the no bake kind, which is my favorite. tomorrow, we're going to bakersfield to see incubus in concert. then, this coming weekend, we're going down south to visit amir and setareh on friday, emily and bryon on saturday, and wendy on sunday. soon afterward, we'll be heading up north to see my love's uncle. then, natalie's gettng married. all this before school starts back again. move in day's the 21st, and school starts on the 25th. it won't be long now.
