WEEKEND IN SAC

just got back from spending the weekend in sac with julie. big campus. lots of people. big city.

went to old sac on friday after i arrived, then went back yesterday and also ate at one of the restaurants. although we took the bus, we walked all the way back to campus... you know how long that is? well, i don't, but it's a freaken long way away. lots of walking, my leg's still sore.

got to pet a wolf. now i want a pet wolf to go with my pet penguin.

saw a 427 cobra. thought of david... first time i've actually seen a cobra in person.

saw a banjo band, thought of david again... they even played sugar blues--with a harmonica solo--and our high school's fight song. cool, eh?

went bowling last night with julie's church friends. although i didn't bowl, it was fun.

met caiti for breakfast this morning in the dining commons. dang, their food is good. it was such a good change from top ramen, macaroni and cheese, and bologna sandwiches every day.

all in all it was a good, fun trip. not something i could do all the time cause it wore me out, but it was a nice change from sitting in my room doing nothing all the time.

so jules, thanks again for inviting me to sac to stay and for showing me around the city and stuff...

oh, and today is mr. richardson's birthday. happy birthday neighbor! :-D how great is that? having your birthday on feb. 29... that'd be kinda like getting married today... hmm...

latest teachings... wolves can jump 10 feet...

song lyric/quote of the moment... "...as soon as you're born you start dying... so you might as well, have a good time..." --cake

the number you dialed is not a working number. please check the number and dial again...

DESSERTS AND COCOA

last night we hosted dessert and cocoa night for our building at our apartment. sarina brought the cocoa and some marshmellows and wendy and i made a batch of sugar cookies and two batches of brownies, one cake-like and one fudgy. there were more people than we had expected would come. phil and his roommates came, and so did a few of the girls from next door, among a few others. all in all, the evening went well. the 5 lb 4oz tub of animal crackers that phil and greg brought weren't finished, but they'll probably be back for the next building event. we'll all be looking forward to the big tub of animal crackers that greg figured a person could live two weeks on eating...

EUROTRIP

last night, wendy invited me to the movies with she and phil and one of phi's roommates, greg. we went to see eurotrip, a movie that i like to categorize with such movies as roadtrip, american pie, and old school. yeah, it was one of those kinds of movies. there were some funny parts, some gross parts... okay, a bunch of gross parts, but it was pretty fun and got me out of my room for a few hours. it was the first time i've been to the theatre up here, and it was quite expensive, $9.25, which makes galaxy 9 (or what i like to call it, galaxy 8 + 1) seem quite cheap.

one more thing... i was reminded at why i don't like most guys. not that i don't like them, but that they are so immature and dumb. wheelbarrows in the theatre... i feel extra thankful to have my love.

EMAIL TO DAVID AND REPLY

did i hear correctly? four days of wild sex??? ;)

Amy:

Yep. My class was sort of falling asleep and did I ever wake them up. Apparently they prefer "verbal viagra's" instead of history sometimes.
It was very funny.

Gosh, the word spreads fast. Have you listened to the CD yet?

THE BEST VALENTIMES EVER :-D

i had the best valentimes day ever. i had the best valentimes day weekend ever. i have the best valentime ever. i have the best love ever.

my love surprised me and was there to pick me up from the train station on friday in his subway hat and shirt. friday night we went to hoagies and then to see 50 first dates at the theatre, which was a really funny movie. it even had a penguin in it ;)

for valentimes, my love got me a big pink stuffed bear, one that i can sleep with when i am up here all alone. he also got me balloons, and one was even a big pink bear ;) aren’t those the best valentimes day presents ever? i love my love so much, i love him. for valentimes dinner, with a little help from mommy, i made us teriyaki chicken breast with pinapple, sweet corn from a can, biscuits, stuffed potatoes, salad with ranch dressing, and cherry cheesecake for dessert. what a meal! yum yum! ;)

sunday night, we had manwiches. yum yum! and i made them extra sloppy. cause i know how you kids like them... extra sloppy! hehe :-P

this was the best valentimes ever. every time i go down to see my love, i leave thinking that it was the best weekend ever, but every time it gets better and better. i cannot wait to see my love again and i just want to thank him for making my weekend the best ever!

you know that person? the one i'm not supposed to talk to... well i talked to this person. not only did i talk to this person, but we had a good conversation. no matter what i told myself... i shouldn't call this person... i really shouldn't... i still did. i did and now it's over with. it's over with and it was nothing. no hurt feelings. nothing. there was nothing to it. it was simple. dial the number, wait for the answer. talk. bye. that was it.

time allows you to forgive a person...

TRIP TO THE ZOO

today wendy, yael, bri, and i took a trip to the san francisco zoo. yesterday we made egg salad for sandwiches and yael made some pasta salad to take for a picnic, and today we woke up, got ready, and left around 11am. when we arrived, there was no parking left in the rather small zoo parking lot. but not to worry. we finally found a parking space, a little ways away, but it didn't cost us the $5 that they were charging for parking. they were doing major construction work on many of the exhibits, but we still got to see the lemurs, monkeys, gorillas and chimps, peacocks, rhinos, giraffes, elephants, bears, polar bears, flamingos, turkeys, meerkats, prairie dogs, insects and spiders, goats, donkeys, sheep, various birds, tigers, lions, fish, kangaroos, emus, a koala, hippos, turtles, ducks, an alligator, and many other sleeping animals. however, i was thoroughly disappointed, because i did not get to see the penguins. and i want a pet penguin... or at least be able to pet one. even though it was a lot of walking, something i'm not accustomed to at all, all in all it was a fun day. we ate our picnic lunch in the car and then drove back to get ready for yet another week of classes.

AMY NOT COLLEGE MATERIAL?

lately i've been doing some thinking. i know... me and thinking don't go so well together, but i've had lots of time since i've been back up here and i find that i do a lot of thinking right before going to bed as i'm laying there trying to go to sleep.

for one, i've come to the conclusion that i'm not college material. now before you have a heart attack and keel over, let me explain what i mean by this. what i mean is that i'm not university level material. it's not that the classes are too tough and that i can't cut it. it's not that at all. i guess i'm just not into the whole university life of things. for one, i'm not in the least bit interested in partying or going to parties to hang out and meet people. just from that, i should be booted out of here. plus, since i've been up here, i haven't been into meeting new people or becoming involved in campus activities, two things i thrived on back at home. it just isn't the same.

i've attributed one of the reasons of my dislike and dissatisfaction for the university to be because of the emphasis on focus. be it my lack of focus (i still don't know what i want to do with my life) or because i prefer to take a wide variety of different classes, i don't like the idea of filling up my semester full of the same kinds of classes. i know many would disagree with me here, but these would be the people that are extremely focused and know what they want to study and do with their lives. if you haven't figured it out by now, i'm not one of these people. i was the one who was perfectly happy taking classes such as econ, anthro, english, psych, and history.

to add to this, i don't even give much thought for my major. i find psychology interesting, but i have absolutely no interest in making it my life's work. i don't even like all my psych classes. aren't these the classes that i'm supposed to like? you know, the ones in my major?

furthermore, it cannot be dismissed that the university system is screwing me over and robbing me. $1505 a semester with fees expected to increase, as much as another 40%, not only pains me, but infuriates me. half these fees are broken down into unknown expenses and who knows what they are. well you know what? i want to know. if it's something that i'm paying for, then i want to take advantage of it.

as of now, i have no interest in applying to grad school, let alone attending. and if by chance i decide to go to grad school, i'm definitely not getting my masters in psychology.

i have three more semesters to go and i hope to god i'll be finished and have my b.a. in psychology. god only knows what i'll do with it...

CANCELLED CLASSES

okay, so it's only the second week of classes, but my anthro class has been cancelled both times this week. not too bad, eh? too bad it's the only class that i don't mind going to. why is it never the long classes that get cancelled?
