THRIFT STORE SHOPPING

yesterday, my friend tracey and i went thrift store shopping and boy did we come back with a deal. first we went to the women's shelter thrift shop on mill. tracey found a sweater and i found a few books--an origami book for julie, house of sand and fog, and a book on shorthand. then, we went over to the sheltered workshop's thrift store where we made a killing finding books. there was a 10 for $1 sale on paperback books and between the two of us, we found 10 books. got a great tony hawk book that looks brand new and was originally $15, a couple of books by erich fromm--escape from freedom and zen buddhism and psychoanalysis, plato's the last days of socrates, jung's analytical psychology, and the age of analysis, a book of 20th century philosophers. i also found two more hardback books on shorthand, a statistics text, and an adventures in english literature text to add to my american literature book. i also found a jacket for 50 cents and a pair of nippers for mom for another 50 cents. all those finds for only $4, not too bad, eh? afterwards we had lunch at jenny lynn's where i haven't been since david took us. i almost forgot how good their hamburgers are. later, kevin came by and took me to see the manchurian candidate at the theatre. we missed about the first three or four minutes, but not enough to make that much of a difference. good movie, but he left to go to the bathroom during the only scary part of the movie, which was when they showed his dream of the scary people with stuff on their faces. or maybe i just get scared too easily.
